Hi there, I’m

Nicola

I am real talking and honest and have a no nonsense approach. But I also have a wicked sense of humour and make light of most situations and find the funny side. I will push you and make you dig deep; to reveal your true self.

I know that as a mama, we can worry about the impact our mental health and our moods, can have on our families. I am here to show you that you can be the one in control of your mental health!

I am a mental health practitioner. I combine many of my qualifications to offer you a unique approach to your mental health.

My main expertise is in mood control. As someone who has borderline (emotionally unstable) personality disorder. I have mastered the art of not letting my ever changing moods be in control of me. I am passionate about sharing my tools and strategies with mamas who want to gain more control of their moods and emotions.

What people say about me

It sounds crazy, but I am finally seeing glimmers of the real me. I have done things I would never have had the confidence to do before. I am also starting to sleep better. Thanks to Nicola and the tools she gives me, I am ready to fight this and I am now becoming stronger than my mind. I am starting to realise that I had to work on my own mental health before I could even think about anything else. How could I even think of a career or set myself any personal goals when I was trapped in my own mind constantly even while I was asleep. Having one to one sessions with Nicola has set me free from my darkest days. I now have the tools and strategies in place to help me be in control of my mental health and take my power back. For me knowing why I was experiencing what I was has opened my eyes again so I can think about living and knowing there is a way out if I am willing to work at it has helped me a lot too.

Nicola, Omg you have just give me so much hope and feeling of opportunity in my future!!!

The one to one therapy sessions with Nicola have been an absolute game changer for me. I had hit rock bottom, been signed off work and was in a period of trying to recover. Whilst I was fortunate enough to have some counselling already if was only getting me so far, and I felt like it only scraped the surface. When I come across Stronger Than Your Mind it struck me that this could be exactly what I needed. What makes Nicola Stand out from the other counsellors is the fact she is openly shares her own journey. By hear her story up front, it made me feel comfortable to share my own experiences, knowing that would understand and that there wouldn’t be any judgement. The one to one calls really helped me when I was feeling a bit lost, when I knew I wanted to get better but didn’t quite know how. Nicola listened to me with an open mind, reassured me and gave me the tools to be able to help myself.

From the one to one therapy sessions we had I haven’t even done the tasks you gave me yet, but I already feel so much better. Just to have my feelings understood and to have someone to help give me the perspective that I needed. My brain seems to be programmed to only see things one way so your session was absolutely invaluable.

When I finally opened up to Nicola and told her what I was going through, there was no judgement and no talk of social services, but lots of understanding. It was so nice to finally have someone to speak to about all of this, I didn’t feel alone anymore. Nic was like a little light in a very dark time where I couldn’t see a way out. After sometime of having one to ones with Nic the pain began to lift I began to see that I wasn’t crazy, my children were not better off without me and I wasn’t a horrible person my my was telling me I was I began to see I was worthy of help but most importantly I could see that what happened to me wasn’t my fault. If I could go back and tell that little girl anything I would tell her it won’t feel like this forever and everything was going to be alright and she was going to make it thanks to a very special lady who would lead her out of all the darkness and pain she was carrying.

When I first started my sessions I still felt a little alone discovering I struggled with BPD and what it meant for me. I was unsure of my next steps to take and what to do to help. I feel a lot more positive about myself now and don’t feel like people are going to hate me because of the way I am. I know I’m never going to be ‘cured’ but I am okay with that now, I know I have to keep working at it and eventually I’ll have more control over my head so I am determined to keep working hard! I feel I hae more control than when we first started having sessions. I handle tough siutations better than I did before and I am not quite as closed as I used to be because I was scared to let people in. I am proud of myself when I look back at everything that has happened and I am still here trying to make things better. I can’t thank Nicola enough for the support and guidance she has given me, it is honestly pricelss. I dread to think where I’d have been if I hadn’t found Nicola.

How I support you

How I support you is unique and holistic. Mainly because I haven’t just read the books and passed the exams, I actually have mental illnesses myself, so I literally practise what I preach and it works not just for me but with my clients too.

You will find me hanging in my Facebook group and over on Instagram where I keep things real and raw and share tips to help other mamas just like you too.

I offer one to one therapy sessions and they are based on my five stage programme and together we work on giving you the tools and the strategies to take control of your moods and emotions. You can send me an email to nicola@strongerthanyourmind.com if you would like to discuss one to one therapy sessions.

My main hub and where I work in a group setting with my butterfly’s is in the Stronger Than Your Mind Academy. I call my academy members my butterflies, because I take you from a scared unconfident caterpillar, who feels so trapped in the world. Stuck travelling small and at ground level, only able to look on in awe at those flying high. Until you take the time to dig deep, cocoon yourself and give yourself the time and space you need to grow. It is then that you blossom into the most beautiful butterfly you have always been destined to be. You can find out more about the academy by clicking here

I am also really driven about helping mamas discover how important exercise is and can be for our mental health. It is my daily therapy and coping mechanism, I would be lost without it and now so many of my butterflies agree and rely on it too. Don’t worry, I know it feels impossible and I know motivation is a real issue. But I have got you,  get your hands on a FREE workbook below where I teach you not only why but how to use exercise as your biggest weapon against your demons within.

Do you need to switch off, but don’t know how?

So many people ask me how they can get a break, a break from their own mind

I remember being so scared that I desperate to find a way to shut up the demons in my mind.

Well, I found a way and in this FREE workbook How To Get Motivated I show you exactly what it is and how to get the motivation to do it too. Just click the image to get you FREE workbook now.

Maternal Mental Health

As a mama of 4, I have experienced pre and post natal mental health problems with 3 of my children. It is just one of the reasons why I am passionate about helping mamas know that having mental health problems does not make you a bad mama. I’m equally passionate about providing support and helpful strategies to mamas feeling overwhelmed by their mental health.

What my butterflies say

I came across Nicola on Facebook when I saw her post and answered ‘yes’ to so many questions. For both my mental and physical health – I knew I had to explore her futher. I am gald I did. Nicola is amazing, a true survivor and a warrior. She is supportive and inspiring but not afraid to kick butt when the sitation demands it. The other group members are wonderful; there is no judgment, it’s a safe place to be, and yes, it can be a funny place too. Mental and physical health don’t have to be 100% serious, as I’ve discovered. Thanks to her incredibly useful and honest online support guides, I know I can turn to Nicola or her virtual self for help 24/7. Stronger Than Your Mind is unique and that’s a good thing. It’s not sterlie, clinical, or ‘fluffy bunny’. It’s honest, it’s open, it’s warm and friendly. It’s serious, it’s funny, it’s light, and sometimes you’ll get a no-nonsense toe up your bottom if that’s what you need. If you think all support groups are the same, think again.

Nicola has created workshops to help with numerous different issues/areas of concern and by working through them you are able to see things from a different perspective. I’m always going back through my worksheets to remind myself of how I felt when I worked through the workshops and it really helps. Nicola is so knowledgeable and makes you feel at ease. She really is the expert as she has experienced and overcome her own challenges in life.

Stephanie

I have suffered mental health for years and I thought I was a lost cause. Nothing I tried worked and I had pretty much given up. Nicola’s academy and her help has been amazing. For once I actually have hope I can move forward and it’s the first thing that has actually made a positive difference for me. I made the best choice when I joined Nicola’s academy. I am so thankful for everything this academy and Nicola has done for me.
